The use of digital cameras webcam for Digital Microscope, first developed by Hackteria, an art project that focuses on the biology and is Open Source. Hackteria itself was developed with collaboration between Marc Dusseiller, Andy Gracie, Urs Gaudenz, Antony Hall and Yashas Shetty. Creative ideas in webcam hack itself comes from Urs Gaudenz. Its use is very simple, namely by turning on the webcam lens is easily available in the market so as to get the magnification power of the lens. In 2009, Marc Dusseiller give a special workshop on the use of the webcam to students in the Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta. I were joining that workshop and learning the methodes to made a webcam microscope.

DIY – Webcam Microscope developments: 2010 – 2012

In 2010, I continue the microscopy project in the laboratory and start to assembly a new prototype using analog microscope body construction that has been damaged. The body construction provides accurate precision in the mobilization of the lens and the object of observation. This function accommodates lack obtained from the prototype experiments. After going through the re-assembly, I provide a DIY Webcam Microscope for use in the Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture UGM.
